There’s courage, then there is Darren Stringer…

Darren in training for the ultimate test

Oh my goodness…

A very dear friend of mine is about to attempt something so incredible that I have to share this with the world. If successful he will be the first British man to do so and Martial Art History will be made.

As today, weighing only 69kg he is about to attempt the legendary…

Kyokunshinkai ‘100 Man Kumite’

What’s that?

Well it’s one hundred, I repeat 100 Consecutive Full Contact Karate Fights against 100 different opponents over two and a half hours. Where full contact kicks are permitted to the head, torso and legs. Bare knuckle punches/hand techniques are restricted to the chest and below because…

No head guards, gloves or chest protectors are permitted during this Warrior trial

Furthermore, the only way you can successfully complete the 100 man Kumite is by NOT getting knocked out or getting injured where your unable to fight on. Can you believe that. So after 99 fights if he gets knocked out or unable to continue, that’s it. No cigar. Do not go pass go and collect your £200.

Harsh but the gods honest truth.

I mean imagine for one moment the physical exertion it must take to complete what is effectively, 7 consecutive MMA world championship fights going the full distance of 25mins. Or running a marathon in under 2hrs 30 minutes getting kicked repeatedly every mile!

I’m exhausted writing it.

He has dedicated his entire life to the pursuit of excellence. Endured the toughest training routine ever seen, trying to achieve his dream for this country.

In addition he would be following in the footsteps of our trainer the legendary Steve Arneil who was the 2nd man to successfully complete the 100 man Kumite way back in 1965. His trainer Masutatsu Oyama was the 1st.

Steve Arneil is singlehandedly responsible for Kyokushinkai karate being the massive organisation it is in Britain today due to his completion of the trial.

Therefore Darren I salute you to even attempt it. From the bottom of my heart ‘Go and make history D’

Little man on fire

Osu!
