Featuring Ruby, Natalie, Tianne, Thea, Flo (whom is still recovering) and new entry from ‘Dark Horse’ Terry .
The development from the gymnasts has been so fast that the race is already over.
It seems the planned weekly slots of future updates on their real time development, was presumptuous on my part. Therefore I offer all Warriors my sincere apologies for misjudging how quickly you would progress.
To achieve what you have all done in 5 sessions is quite remarkable.
In 1st placeNatalie who only took 2 hrs on day 1.
Her progress to 360 was so rapid we missed recording the 1st one as it was supposed to be a 180.
Stunning performance Nats. Gaining her automatic entry in to the Race for 540. The ability to understand and implement the correct coaching points is Natalie’s strength. Add to that her 100% commitment to be better than she was yesterday on every run, makes her a formidable opponent in any race for development.
Bravo Warrior. Stunning performance. A victory well deserved.
The speed of her development could only be rivalled by Usain Bolt.
In Joint 2nd place Ellie&Terry
After numerous whole hearted attempts (see race for 360) gaining more spatial awareness, Ellie found it. Furthermore repeatedly landed it. Her fantastic round off flick coupled with her phenomenal power allowed her to eventually do this…
Neatness aside, the power and confidence needed to even attempt this move considering it is in its embryonic stages of development meant that when she was then allowed to run…
The height gained with more momentum allowed her to add a 1/4 in the Air. Bravo Warrior. Stunning Development.
Simultaneously Terry was receiving some Kinaesthetics in his pursuit of the 360…
Until finally he did this…
To be the only Prince amongst Queens in this race, shows his fortitude and strength of character. Furthermore to come second in a field of rapid developers is testament to how good he really is. Bravo Warrior. Stunning Development.
In Joint 3rd place Ruby & Tianne
Ruby and Tianne have been tirelessly working on improving their DISH shapes. ‘The tighter the shape the better the twist’. So whilst they may be behind a week or…Correction a session or 2 at this rate, its important to keep in mind that a superior shape will not only catch up, it will increase the possibility to multiple twist.
Watch your Backs they’re coming.
Ruby’s new improved dish in the air making her 180 easier to perform. A 360 will surely follow. Bravo Warrior Stunning Development.
Tianne’s showing her new improved body tension and spatial awareness in Sensei hands
I think the Height and Flight is secured and Nix might have to wear high heels at this rate. Fantastic development. Bravo Warrior.
Finally Thea and Flo
Thea is probably one of the strongest athletes in our club. She never tires, never gets hurt, and never quits. In addition, in the air is probably one of, if not the best shape isometrically. As mentioned above this is a perfect platform for future development. Furthermore upon completion of the 360 will minimise deductions due to the near perfect shape.
Bravo Warrior. Stunning Development
Finally Pocket Rocket Flo. Without doubt the most dedicated young athlete we possess with unlimited potential. Training with the senior squad is no mean feat when you’re young but below is the reason why she does…
Unfortunately a bout of sickness prevented her attending any more sessions last week. However on the evidence above, 1st and second place would have been closely contested.
Fantastic development Warrior.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Therefore rather than promising a weekly development series for the Race to 540 and 720, I’m gonna announce that it is open and show the results in an unspecified time to alleviate further embarrassment to myself.
Featuring Ruby, Ellie, Natalie, Tianne, Thea and Flo (get well soon).
Week 1 of Real Time Development…
Let the battle commence!
When developing a new move, going into unknown territory can be extremely frustrating to any gymnast especially when twisting.
To gain an extra 1/4 or 1/2 twist in the air may sound simple, but in reality relies heavily on improved biomechanics, multiple preps and the will to get it round.
To have fellow team mates alongside experiencing the same problems and fears, greatly reduces their individual frustrations (Love TeamGym). Furthermore their team mates passionate support from the side lines increases the will to succeed.
For the first time ever these brave gymnasts are allowing us to publicly show their real time development.
By documenting their weekly sessions in pursuit of the 360 including the thrills and spills, hopefully it will show what it really takes to become a Warrior.
Sunday 1st of June 2019 3hr Squad Session
First up, warming up the body and getting in to rhythm
During the warm up gymnasts perform multiple combinations of Straight Back Land-Jump halves. Straight Halves to stacked mats. Prep stations for ankle conditioning to cope with the extreme centrifugal landing forces.
Conditioning is a crucialelement for any NW member as we have no Foam Pit or Resin Landings.
We can then add some Kinesthetics to help the gymnasts feel the 1/2 in the air to land
The Warriors first Brave unsupported attempts because as stated earlier they have no bail out, no foam pit, no soft cushioned floor. Their courage to even try humbles us every session.
Tuesday 4th of June 2019 2hr Squad session
Continuing Sundays progress…
Fantastic efforts, Aside from the obvious biomechanical flaws, the understanding and courage to try is quite simply first class. Now its up to us to implement the correct coaching points and preps to correct, (video of prep work coming soon). However whilst they were buzzing…
Over and over they tried…
Little by little they made small adjustments until…
Bravo Warriors fantastic work but there was more to come…
To our amazement Natalie progressed so quickly we added the Jump half
Tianne after getting used to her new body was not satisfied with learning a new move backwards, decided to see what it was like twisting forwards…
Remarkable considering her 24 month sabbatical
And finally here is Kadie who is in a completely different race to 900 showing us even when you fall, fall with style.
Race to 900 coming soon
In summary a fantastic 5 hours of development across 2 sessions. Stay tuned for tonight session Thursday 6th of June
She will achieve anything she wants to achieve in life
As she proved…
Harmony’s road to success is the perfect example to any gymnast who fears the next stage of development. Commonly known as a ‘block’ is usually the fear of going into the unknown. Add the increased risk factor of linking the next move, its easy to see why at a young age they can be reluctant.
To overcome any fear, a full understanding of what the trigger point of the fear is, is crucial. Then together with the gymnast we can rationalise around the problem, to find the correct preps for a solution to said problem.
In these cases NW empowers the gymnast with all the knowledge to help them find their own way through with constant support.
The above Prep written by herself for a Handspring Tuck is truly amazing. The biomechanical understanding is mind blowing. A future coach in the making!
Furthermore week after week she prepped hard and worked her socks off. With Development coach Dan Ford’s constant encouragement, whilst supporting every prep. Including every Standing flick and every linked Round off flick on tumble (trust me that’s hard work) eventually after 2 hardworking years…
She cracked it. Well done Harmony. Your dedication is a lesson to us all. Your a true Warrior and a lesson in Dream Believe Achieve
