What a week of development. From Dundee to Crawley we have had the pleasure of watching so many happy gymnasts perform debut moves that this summer will be hard to beat. However you Warriors keep proving me wrong.
First up its Kiki who has been tirelessly working on developing her Round Off Flick Unsupported. Her dedication and commitment is evident in this attempt and her cheeky personality too.
Next up it’s Harmony who since conquering her fear of the round off flick has become a prep junkie now she knows the results. To see her perform this was amazing as in only 2 months she has improved to a level where she never previously thought reachable.
Fantastic work Daniel Scott Ford & CharlotteDoyle as alongside the stunning development in the videos above, there must be stunning development coaching going on behind the scenes. Take a well deserved bow all 4 of you!
Next up inspired by the previous 2 we have Natalie the 1hr wonder. After arriving at 12pm due to various public transport issues, in Natalie’s mind (if its even possible) was more determined than normal as she felt robbed of time.
The resulting commitment produced this…
Knowing her it will be Straight-Straight Full by next Friday!
However not to be out done last but not least Thea. Who was stuck in the middle of another Sensei matrix of tricking her mind. Whilst working tirelessly as she always does, Nix saw the possibility with her new found strength and confidence to mix things up and get her to do this…
Thea is possibly the strongest athlete we know. She never breaks down. Never stops and has unlimited potential. No shock she just keeps getting better and better. I wont reveal the final move Nix has in her web but will post and explain why she has her doing this prep upon completion of the final move.
Stunning development Warriors
Was a pleasure to see this afternoon moves. Definitely worth getting off my sick bed for.
What an absolute pleasure the last 48 hrs has been. To be surrounded by so many dedicated, enthusiastic gymnasts showcasing their obvious talent and coached skills was inspiring to say the least.
Furthermore nothing fires up Nicky more than the effervescence of youth and the chance for her to try and make a difference in their lives.
The coaches and hospitality were as always first class and a special thank you must go out to Donna Kilbane who’s event organisational skills are phenomenal.
When you’re walking through arrivals and you see your name on a board being held high by John our personal driver…
Class was the first thought that entered my mind.
The logistical transitions from Edinburgh to Dundee were seamless like a formula 1 pit stop. Mercedes should hire you as they would recognise the tremendous amount of hard work, planning and preparation which goes into making things look that easy! From hospitality to nutrition every need and more was catered in a way that only someone extremely good at their role could provide. A credit to your country. #scottishgymnastics
Muchas gracias Donna for making our experience so special
As a fantastic bonus Dan and I had the chance to meet one of TeamGym’s great coaches who was tutoring alongside camp. A man who Nicky has always wanted me to meet as her words…
‘He is 1 of the Original legends in TeamGym’
In addition Chris Short alongside Candy Lakin another Fantastic TeamGym coach of many years, are responsible for my first ever ‘Gasp’ at the British Championships with their gymnast Shingi Mhembere. Who performed a Double Straight Somersault transition on Tumble before his final move!!!
This is way back in 2011. To put that in perspective, that’s an elite move that only some members of the top 3 European teams can perform now and I know of only 3 British Teamgym Squad members capable of performing that move in 2019
To have the opportunity to learn from someone who coached the above was an unexpected opportunity that superseded our expectations. Thank you Chris for sharing your extensive Biomechanical knowledge and the secret ‘Golden Nugget’ preps that blew our minds which will definitely improve every future Warrior session we coach.
Got to say, seeing black and white grainy footage from the 60’s only enhances the nostalgia and has exposed your obvious vintage which your looks defy.
Finally a special thank you to all the Scottish coaches and gymnasts. You all made the 7 hour sessions seem like 5 mins. Evidence of the old saying
‘Time flies when you’re having fun’
When one of Scottish Gymnastics top coaches Amanda Boucher presented us with these T shirts, I was humbled beyond belief. #scottishgymnastics
Nuff respect Amanda as your warmth and kindness is always on display through your gymnasts and as a recipient myself, fully understand why you have such a great gymnastic club! #irvinebaygymnasticsclub
In conclusion if we are lucky enough to be invited back for 3rd year, and the weather prevented any travel, the desire to attend would motivate me to walk.
